Zodiac Monoprint Series

The “Zodiac Monoprint Series” is an ongoing project using the Gelli printing plate to design representations of the characteristics and symbols of the twelve zodiac signs. For each print, I use several found objects that make unique textures on the surface of the Gelli plate. I then design and cut templates from thick mylar that either silhouette or protect chosen areas from the layers of acrylic paint. I print until I am satisfied with the overall colors and textures and usually end up with 15-25 different variations. The last step is choosing one print to scan into the computer for the final digital illustration.
